Can I just check...

Just want to check on the power options for the Ipod. The cable sold on:

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=993

connects to the C3 plug on the CR/CDR-220. There is a 12V suppply on the C3 outlet - does this cable not pick up this power supply for charging? Or are there separate wires from the C3 plug that go to earth and power? Where does the CD changer get power from?

Secondly, any difference between a firewire or USB charged Ipod? (I have both and cannot use USB charge for Firewire and vice versa).

Which begs the next question - what voltage does an Ipod charge at, and if/when I upgrade to the iphone, will this mod be compatible?

Many thanks to all who have been flogging this dead horse for a while....

That adapter will not pick up the power, you need that same cable with a power and ground wire. Then you simply wire tap the power and ground to the loose telephone power cable under the center console.
There is no difference between a Firewire and USB iPod when it comes to charging and playing with this cable. I know what you mean but it works in my car, and it will work with any 30-pin connector iPod and that includes the iPhone.
