Question Oil pressure switch-sensor leak

I brought my 2000 Boxster S to a local garage to pass a provincial inspection and they told me my car was fine aside from an ''oil pressure switch (or sensor)'' leaking little drops of oil onto the exhaust manifold.

They told me it wasn't too important but that it might cause a burning smell coming from the engine and if the leak gets too important well it might burn more...

They told me I should get a new oil pressure switch so that there is no leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

1-Is this common?

2-What the hell does this mean and can someone explain to me in detail what might of caused this and its long-term effect on my engine

3-Can this be covered by my CPO warranty?

4-How much $ and where can I purchase this part if it's not covered under CPO?

Many, many thanks!

I think I found the part online at Pelican Parts:

''Oil Pressure Senders
Is your oil pressure sender leaking? Is your oil pressure warning light on your dash not working properly? Very often, the cause is a malfunctioning oil pressure switch. Replace yours and solve the problem.

986-606-203-03-M100 Oil Pressure Sender, Boxster/Boxster S (1998-04), Each
Brand: Genuine Porsche [Photo]

$9.00 ''

9$ isn't a whole lot hehe

So if this could be the cause of drops of oil leaking onto my exhaust manifold and causing a burning smell?

That would be your oil pressure idiot light switch, cheap part and relatively easy to replace. If you have CPO warranty they should pick it up.

The one on my 2000 Non S failed as well. Accentuated at ax by high rpms (hence, higher pressures) which caused quite a look as the car smoked its way around the course. Get it fixed. The part is cheap (relatively that is) and the smoke and smells are obnoxious to say the least. It will be a condition that only gets worse, not better.

I ordered it yesterday from pelicanparts.com

Is it a complicated-long install?
