Are wheel spacers worth buying?

Are there any performance increases they provide, or is it just an issue of having your wheels and tires sticking out further?

Never having actually used them, I can't speak authoritatively, but my understanding is the reason to put on spacers is to be able to use wider wheels and tires.
A wider wheel/tire combination will provide some performance benefits, but I don't think just the spacers by themselves would do a lot.

I have had 5mm Porsche spacers since Jan of this year when I replaced my 18" Turbo twists with the Sport Techno's. I love the look of the spacers with my wheels. They fill in the wheel well perfectly and look a million times more aggressive then without them. They should also marginally improve handling since you get a wider stance. I've got 18mm spacers on 17" Boxster wheels. It gives it a much more aggressive stance, especially at the front. They help fill out the wheel arches.

I can only recommend them. Cheaper than new wheels

aglsteven thank's for the time talking those pic to showed me .i wonder did u lower the car ?did the wheel bearing showed any sign of failing ?and also where can i get those H&R spacer ?

Hi 911sc,
I did not lower the car. In Australia I have enough problems with curbs and speed humps already, so I didn't want to get any closer to the ground. I've been told by my garage that there is no additional strain on the wheel bearings. There are longer bolts on the wheels to attach them.

I got mine through a friend (off a 996), so I can't give you a name, but have a look at www.fvd.de. They advertise wheel spacers in all thicknesses for all models. I'm sure they will ship them overseas, but they are heavy, so it will probably cost quite a bit. Are you in the US? Ebay seems to have complete Boxster parts sets over there.

hi aglsteven,i thinking to put the same spacer but i like to lower it to 1",do the spacer came with the longer nut as part of the package ?or i need to get it as a extra thing?what would u suggest to put the right spacer in the front and the back ?thank's

If you want to lower it and put spacers on, I would take it to a workshop where they can advise you properly. You will need to make sure that you are not going to foul the wheel arches when the front wheels are turned.
I would say that 18mm is almost too much on the back, but at the front they are OK.

Has anyone else had their car lowered and had spacers put on?
