Covertible Top Loud When Opening and Closing

When you open and close your convertible top, how loud is it? I don’t really hear the top itself making much noise, but I can hear the motor(s) and it makes a lot of noise. At least I think it’s the motors that are making the noise. I’ve never had any problems with the top and it’s always been this loud, I just wanted to ping the folks on this forum to see if this is common, or if it should be much quieter.

Mine is rather loud (quite a bit louder than our 996 Carrera), but the top works perfectly. I don't think you have cause for concern.

Yeah, my 01's top mechanism seems pretty loud too, but always works fine. I'd describe it as a groan when lowering or raising top, but no other issues. I've noticed that the top mechanism on my buddies' 987 is very quiet. Maybe they switched suppliers.

my 01 base box is quiet. however, my wife's 02 s is a bit noisy in comparison. maybe because it had a new top when we got it?

don't let it worry you...just enjoy your box until something breaks...then fix it.

Your wife has the S and you've got the base. What's wrong with this picture?
