I think the adage, "Don't fix what isn't broken" comes into play here.

It's only been 3 years since the introduction of the 987...It's kind of premature IMO.

The Cayman picture looks odd to me also but I can not tell what it is.

Growing up the car magazines said how amazing Porsches are. Was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

wow already

I was planning on upgrading my 986S to a 987 in a year or two, I guess a new version will only bring down the 987 prices! good! lol

I have not yet warmed up to the new styling cues on the facelift, but that may change after the camoflage is removed. The droopy rear lights seem to be something Porsche is incorporating on its entire line-up, starting with the new Cayenne. Also notice the cover up at the rear of what probably will be diffusers, which will be a welcome addition to many. As for the 2 smaller lights in the rear bumper, I can't see that staying, but rather is something they tacked on for testing purposes. I also understand that the larger side mirrors are now mandatory in Europe and will probably come to the U.S. as well.
As for the front, the headlights look larger and shaped differently, and should be even more powerful. The Boxster's front end will look slightly different from the Cayman's, and more like what I have attached below. The facelift should be available by late summer/early fall of '08 as a MY '09. Many publications have stated that the big styling changes to the 987, possibly an all new 988, will come 2 years after the '09 facelift.

The Cayman has an EXTRA set of lights in the fog light area. The round ones are what's on the present 08 models but the ones next to it look like the same ones used on the 08 turbos. So 2 sets of fog lights???? Can you say overkill.

I don't like the front bumper of the Cayman. It looks too audi-esque. or maybe it looks like that Mater tow truck from the cartoon movie "cars". It makes the car look like it has "slack-jawed yokel" overbite. "Daaaaa-yup"

Does anyone know if they're doing anything to the horsepower? Or are the changes purely cosmetic?
