Blinkwatt-
Did you buy one?
Here's some information I found on RennTech from a post by skymast concerning installation. He had a C4, but the connections are probably the same for a Boxster with the 490 package.
Update --
for those who come after me ....
I have a 99 C4 (late build), CDR-220 w/ Amp.
1) It is plug and play BUT you do need to connect / splice the C6 and A5 wires to power the amp to get sound.
2) I may have had a bad CDR-220 BUT the TP sounds much better than my CDR-220.
3) The amber display (you can buy green and red) is a perfect color match
4) Looks wise, this is a total factory look (not a cheap aftermarket)
5) This is literally a 20 minute install ((but I didnt install the reverse wire)
6) While it does not have the typical big display screen, it is very easy to set / use.
7) Very Important for the directionally challeged. IT HAS A COMPASS DISPLAY!!!!!!! This was worth the $440 alone to me!
Hope this helps!

From what I can see on Renntech, the best place to put the antenna is under the cover that holds the LED for the security system in the middle of the dash.
I decided to buy one. I was going to send my CDR-220 to Becker to have the peeling buttons and sticky knobs repaired. The cost of the Traffic Pro is higher than rehabbing the CDR-220, but I think it would take at least two weeks to have the radio serviced. I guess I can always sell the CDR-220 after I install the Traffic Pro and recoup part of my cost.
I agree that the Traffic Pro should be plug and play, but I saw several posts on Renntech that said that the amp wouldn't turn on without the wire swap.

A jumper wire is a term used meaning to connect two different wires together. In this case all the jumper wire does is tell the amp to turn on (remote turn on) so this wire can be soldered or use the wire tap as is does not run a high current. What ever method you use just make sure it is secured and it does not come off or loose also no bare wire is exposed because that will be a live/hot wire.
