Rear Speaker kits

I'm adding the rear speaker kit to my growing to do list for the Boxster. I remember seeing the factory kit on sale for around $125 from Sunset and then there is the PNP kit from ebay for $220. Is the PNP way better than the Porsche one? I am going to run them off the head unit, so there isn't going to be a ton of wattage going to them.

PNP Rear Speaker Kit

I did the PNP kit as they marketed it as an improvement over all others due to speaker size and quality. I was disapointed with the outcome, it's OK.............but was it worth the @200.00 spent? If you have disposable income, it make an OK addition.

The stock 220 head unit and amp strugles to push the speakers. You have to adjust the fader and the front speakers decrease for nominal increase in the rear.

I guess it's an OK kit.

I went with the factory set up. The speakers are a joke, worse than the PNP. Ended up buying $120 worth of better speakers and worked my a$$ off making them fit. Would recommend the PNP.

A big part of the problem is these speakers are run through the radio, not the amp. Others have replaced the 4 chl Boxster amp with the 6 chl amp from a 996 to drive the rears. Some who have done this said it isn't worth the $$$ either.

There are plenty of threads on this topic. Need to decide what level of sound you are looking for and spend accordingly. It's hard to make a silk purse out of this sow's ear.
