No, it was on ebay for about 7 days, and the reserve was not met so it didn't get sold, i had someone wanting to look at it tomorrow so i decided to drive both cars and see if it was worth selling, and it wasn't, so now im just keeping it.

Well, it seemed as if your main complaint with the Boxster was a lack of straight-line acceleration, which $500 is not going to improve much, regardless of how you spend it.
If there's something else you'd like to improve, you'll have to let us know, but otherwise maybe save for some sort of forced induction setup?

Have fun with your $500, instead of doing only one big thing. Make your own rear strut brace for $10, do the OBC hack for $50, and buy a spoiler sticker for $20. I wouldn't drop $500 on one think like an air intake that might gain you 5HP, do a lot of nice little things, and then your $500 will last longer and make you appreciate the car more. Don't waste $500 on HP upgrades that will get you very little for your money.
That is just my $0.02!

eBay B & M clone short shift kit
Go through the car and find random crap that's broken or scratched(trust me there always is something that can be replaced no matter what year or what mileage)
Painted bumperettes
custom built rear stress bar
painted center console

Sell your car, buy a 98 cheap, 3.4 swap. the condition of the car would be less, but that 300HP would make you happier.

Boggtown, did you smoke the tail lights yourself?
How did you do it?
BlkBoxster, I am glad you decided to keep the Boxster.

Take the $500 to buy some gas. You never drive that bad-girl!
You need to become one-with-it. And she knows you tried selling her. She's pissed. Where's your loyality? Committment?

Sport sway bars
For $235 for sway bars and bushings/postage from Sunset, have a set of these installed. It will transform the vehicle. You will carry so much more speed around corners that you won't need as much acceleration to keep things moving and you won't need a brake upgrade either. I just did this mod and am thrilled with the difference for the money spent.

Sorry to hijack, lol. But I did do them myself. I got niteshades tint spray. You sand the lights, spray it on, spray it on, spray it on (lightly), sand it, clear it, buff it. Those pics are before I redid them so they are cleared and darker now.

My thought exactly. You really seemed to want more power. For $500 just drop in a nitrous system. I'm not sure what you can get for that money, but the Zex dry systems used to go that cheap. It seems pretty taboo in the Porsche world to add nitrous (probably 'cause it's so expensive to fix when the engine goes BOOM), but hey for the money that's your biggest horsepower bang (literally) for the buck.
If it were my $500 though and a stock car - I'd do lowering/sport springs first. It made quite a difference on my car.

Look at this NOS on eBay, for a Boxster!
This must make freeway on ramps a lot of fun!

Go to page three of this discussion group and click on "Sway bar sizes". Also a search in the archives will give you more. Feel free to contact me direct if you need anymore info.
