Have the aerokit is not poser in my opinion, just a factory option. So I dont quite see your point on that issue.

I guess ill break it down for you alittle more.
Poser Level 1-10:
-03 Boxster bumper on a 1997 Boxster Level 3
-Carrera Bumper on an 1997 boxster Level 6... But i still like it
-GT3 bumper on a Boxster Level 9
Carrera GT bodykit on boxster Level 10.5
I have nothing against the carrera bumper really, i like it and would get it, but unfortunatly money is an object here. A used 03 or 04 bumper non-s and S are 350 bucks, the Carrera'a are more. Sure, the 03 is posing also but atleast its subtle and will attract less honda civic racers. Also, if i get a GT3 bumper, people are going to expect my car to be fast and we all know 200bhp can only make you go so fast in a straight line.

Poser, schmoser. You're not trying to pass the car off as anything it isn't. It's not a CGT body kit. It's just a bumper change. Put a friggin' dump truck bumper on it if that's what you like. Anybody who doesn't like the way it looks can get the f**k away from it.

Yeah its also a matter of taste as well. While i like all the options dispite my outlook on how i feel they make me look like a pretend Carrera or whatever, I still prefer the look of the 03 and 04 bumpers for the boxster.

Grizz, don't hold anything back. Tell it like it is. You really need to open up and share your true feelings on this forum
I, for one, cannot wait until I can afford to get a GT3 front bumper and an 03 rear bumper on my old 1997 to match my new litronics and red and clear tail lamps.
I'm all about making the 11 year old car look as new as possible. It keeps me from wanting a 987 so badly.

Is that what you reallllly mean.... or do you mean "Back me up and rip CJ a new one for not having the same tastes and intrigue as I do when it comes to front bumpers." lol
To tell you the truth I wanted something along the lines of a C2 bumper or a GT3 in the past but currently, i want something more subtle, just alittle nicer than what I currently have. I guess its just my taste, its changed over the months.

Well by that "anti-poser" logic Boxsters should not have 18" Carrera five spoke or Turbo twist wheels either...Anyone not rolling around on 16" or 17" wheels is a poser.
From the doors forward both the 97-04 Boxster and the 99-01 Carrera are the same block of sculpting marble. If anything the '93 Boxster begat the 1999 996, as its the only 911 that doesn't "fit in" when you look at the Carrera lineage.
I've yet to hear a Porsche purist accuse a 99-01 C2/S C4/S owner with a GT3 front bumper of being a poser....It's a matter of style. It would be pretty foolish to say "I'm adding a Turbo taco wing because I want people to think my C4S is a Turbo" People read the rear badge and know what the car is and that the owner has chosen to add some individuality to his car.
The 996 community is chock full of owners adding all manner of exterior bits that were not initially part of the factory look of their respective Carrera. I don't see how the Boxster would be held to a higher standard since its the car that started the whole design theme.

Problem is that probably less than 15% of 996 owners know what, I'd rather save myself the time explaining that to every 996 owner that thinks i wish i had there car. Oh when i said poser, i was saying it as a joke cause i remember a thread in the past that someone used that term and we had a field day with it lol

Nope, I was teasing Grizzly for being so friggin' blunt.
I actually love all the different kinds of bumpers people put on their boxsters and if all the mods I've made to my exterior make me a poser in someone's eyes, so be it.
CJ, you put whatever bumper you want to put on your car and I'll give you two thumbs up all day long

Here is the deal with Progressive. I worked for them for 7 years as a claims manager and trainer. They will try to force you to bring the car to one of their shops. You can choose this or a shop of your choice. I would definately take it to the highest quality shop you can. You dont have to take it to their shop. The shop you choose will negotiate the price with the Progressive claims rep. Progressive will most likely choose used or aftermarket headlamps. You dont have much choice there unless they are unable to find "like kind and quality" meaning as good as new or the ones you had on the car at the time of the loss. Any great bodyshop will be able to negotiate a settlement with the claims department. You should only have to pay your comprehensive deductible.
Best of luck and remember that it is your car and your choice.

Yeah.......CJ don't kill me but I just paid $650 for used litronic headlight assemblies and +$48 for the new clear corners from Sunset.

$1300 is a good deal for Litronics nowadays? ouch...
I got me set for $1100 in a Brandywine group buy back in 2005.
Still ranks as the lowest bang for the buck mod to date, car looks the same to 99.5% of the world, if you mostly drive in urban areas there's little difference between the halogens and HID and you have to worry about theft...dem things are waaaaay to easy to remove. snap crackle pop.
But yeah they do look neat, although I would spend the $1300 on skirting, wheels, and interior bits first.

The price has skyrocketed recently, the lowest price new is Sunset Imports.......$2.4k.....
Why did they jump from $1.5k new to $2.4k? Nothing changed.

They must have also dented something in that process, I just took the headlights out of a 996 today. The bolt that holds the lights in is even a pain to get at with the tool. The headlights are one big piece, I can't see the headlights being in good shape after all that. They must have broken alot of plastic, like the entire housing. Stupid thieves, that sucks.
Why is the left headlight always cheaper than the right if you buy them individually?

So my car is a 9 on the poser scale? I find that ridiculous. Why would a poser car be one of the TOP TEN most viewed registry pages on renntech.com? The highest 2.5 on there ever I might add...

Dude your seats looks NICE. What's your impression of them long-term? Have you taken any 100+ mile road trips in them?
