I would prefer a Caddy CTS-V (same 400hp, but better brakes, suspension and chassis) to a GTO.. "if" I was forced to choose. Luckily i am not forced, and therefore free to look for another Porsche!

I'm a musclecar guy through and through, so I completely understand the draw to a 400 horsepower straightline hammer, but the GTO? Dude, it looks just like the Sunbird the 16 year old girl up the street drives. If you're going to buy a musclecar, buy a cool one. There are so many better choices out there, I don't even know where to start. Let's see...CTS-V, Vette, Mustang, new Camaro, new Challenger, etc, etc, etc. Even the Magnum and Chrysler SRT8s are better alternatives.
Rule 1 hit it right on the head; there's a reason they didn't sell many and scrapped the program almost immediately.

Umm, guys, I think this was an April fools joke, maybe a Halloween prank? No, I got it. Maybe a gang banger stole his computer and posted here. Seriously, when I think Pontiac GTO, I think a skinny kid with boxers out, wife beater t-shirt, and a red gang bandana on his head. I also think of my mother in law's surprise visits into town in her Grand Prix.
Maybe we are biased, right? I bet if you post the same question on the Pontiac forum, at least half would still choose the Porsche or Mercedes. If you want speed, pony up the extra 8 and get a real engine- v12 cl600. They are often on ebay for less than 30.
I have a feeling you posted this because you knew it would get a lot of responses and you wanted your ebay link to get the publicity. At least I hope so!

dude, go ahead and sell your car for horsepower but I highly suggest for you to check this one out before jumping in to...what was that car again?
Supercharger still for sale. Didn't go on ebay
I think the airfare is worth it if you live close by the owner

blkboxster, I like your idea of selling your Boxster and buying a GTO. You should also consider selling your Cayenne and get a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is a much nicer SUV than the Cayenne.

Blkboxster, if you want HP, drive your Mercedes. How can you be bored with your Boxster? It has less than 17,000 miles. How many miles have you driven it during your 3-year relationship. You need to drive it more. Become one-with-it. Say to yourself, "Be the Boxster"! Now go do the right thing!
Do you think maybe she is cheating on you?

I sat in a new GTO the other day. I was impressed with the car from that perspective.
I understand they are wicked fast.
Enjoy and welcome back if you ever get another Box.
Good luck.

[thinking out loud ] something tells me a decision won't have to be made between a GTO or C32 AMG if the BIN = reserve price.....
I'd love to see '99s selling for $22K (or anything above $20K), but it's really a function of supply and demand. Lots of '99s out there as well as '97, '98, '00, '01, '02, '03, and '04 plus the Ss. Oh yeah.... and the recent R&T article ('99 s/b sub $19K IIRC) doesn't really 'help' either.
