Question Number of vehicles produced

I was wondering if there was a way to find out the number of Boxster and Boxster S vehicles produced in 2007 model year?

Thanks

Yes, these numbers will be published by Porsche in their financial reports. But, it will include the Caymen too because the Cayman is also a 987.

Brucelee and/or MNBoxster recently posted these numbers, but I can't find the old thread.

If I were to guess, I'd say about 25,000 Boxsters (not including the Cayman) and 3/4 of those would be the Base and 1/4 the "S".

Here is a recent Press Release off their web-site:

September sees double-digit growth for Porsche in North America
911 and new Cayenne ensure a further record monthStuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany, keeps the success story alive in North America. In a tough market environment, the manufacturer of sporty premium cars managed, with 2,801 deliveries to customers in September 2007, to surpass the previous year’s
2,339 units by 20 percent on its most important sales market. The upward trend in the USA and Canada shown in 911 sales for the past months accelerated with the launch of the new Cayenne. September was the fourth record month since the introduction of the Cayenne. Previously, the North American figures for May, June and July had all been the highest for the respective months in the history of the company.

In the reporting year, the number of new Cayenne vehicles delivered in North America rose by 30 percent on the previous year, to 1,038. The sports-car series are still very popular with customers in the USA and Canada too. 911 sales rose by 35 percent to 1,051 units in September 2007. Deliveries of the Boxster series decreased by seven percent to
712 vehicles. A total of 469 units went to the Cayman and Cayman S.

Bmussatti,

I was alwasy under the impression that the Base vs. S production was 50/50.

Is there really that much of a production difference?

An excerpt:

911 highly successful the world over
Accounting for a total of some 79,540 units, customer deliveries by the Porsche Group in the period 1 August 2006 – 31 May 2007 again reached the previous year's figure of 79,564 units. An important point to be considered in this context is that production of the first generation of the Cayenne sports utility was discontinued in November 2006, with sales of the new model generation not starting until 24 February 2007 in Europe and Asia and 3 March on the American continent. Just how successfully the new Cayenne appeals to customers the world over is clearly borne out by the fact that sales of this model series as of the end of May 2007 already amounted to 25,436 units, just 10.7 per cent below the previous year's figure. By comparison, sales in the first six months of the 2006/07 year of business were 41.4 per cent below the previous year's figure on account of the upcoming model change.

The Porsche 911 is even more successful, Porsche's traditional model series aiming for a new sales record in the 2006/07 year of business: In the first ten months of the year, sales of the 911 were up 12.2 per cent to 31,287 cars. Sales of the Boxster series, in turn, amounting to 22,806 units as of the end of May, were only slightly below the previous year's figure, the two Cayman and Cayman S mid-engined coupés accounting for 13,586 units sold.

TriGem, I was told this was the estimated split in the US market. And when you visit a dealership, their new car inventory reflects this.

So I was off by a lot. According to this, in that 10 month period, Porsche made 9,220 Boxsters (22,806 - 13,586). So about 12,000 in a year are made.

If you check out this thread and the link in it you will see that for '06 at least it seems 1633 Boxster S' were sold in NA. The other cars are broken out as well.
