With the exception of the side vent, it's nice they stayed true to the original design.

I wonder where that car is today? That would be a collectable worth owning. The story is the vents were moved up due to debris issues. Beautiful car...thanks for the post!

As I recall, it was designed to have a much larger engine than the 2.5 it received in 1996 when it finally came out.

Is that why the 3.4L fits in it easily?

Yep, that's the car I fell in love with when I first saw it in a magazine. I swore that someday after I finished college that I'd get one.

it says 212 in the bottom right. I wonder if there are 200 pictures out there somewhere. Porsche should post all of them. I'm going to send them an email.

Yep. That proto type looks perfect. I have a 1/24th scale die-cast sitting on my desk right now. They made models and sold them through a company called MAISTO. They make many die-cast model toy cars. It even came with a nice stand that says PORSCHE BOXSTER. Both doors open, front trunk and the clamshel cover for the top, but not the rear trunk. Wheels and steering wheel also turns. The shape of the clamshel for the top cover is shaped like 2 cresent moons around the back of each seat. You can buy these models on e-bay. :cheers:

No rollbar/windscreen.. Loved those 18" 3 piece speedline wheels though :)

If that were true, then how is it that RUF's RK spyder has them in that same area with no problems. Make you wonder. :rolleyes:

Pretty sure they were eliminated due to winter testing, clogged with ice and snow. I doubt Ruf worries about such things as evident by my Ruf front bumper inlets to the rad's clogging up in snow storms.

If you haven't read "Porsche Boxster" by John Lamm, it's a great story on Boxster history. The original prototype had NO engine, all the PR shots taken of the car in motion were taken on a slope... with the car coasting! :rolleyes:

Those wheels make it remind me of my car in a way

I took that pic and used the airbrush from MS paint to fix 2 things. the front bumper line, and the badge thing above the vent. I think it looks better without them. Tell me what you think, remember, I spent 10 seconds on the pic, lol.

I picked up a copy of this Brochure, going to have it framed.
