Lamm's book is comprehensive about the development of the Boxster, both from the styling and technical points of view. It is well illustrated, but certainly is not the typical coffee table picture book.
Also, it is written from the perspective of the US models, instead of UK cars as so many similar books seem to be.
Unless there is a new edition, you wont' find anything about the 2.7s or the S, as it was written before they were introduced.

When the prototype was first introduced and Porsche began taking orders, a friend and I each dropped a deposit for a spot on the waiting list. When the production car was unveiled, we were both disappointed in the final design. I sold my place on the waiting list for a profit. My friend sold his car when it was delivered and bought something else. I still have the original brochure and some other promotional stuff in my collection.

Who would have guessed that 10 years later I would buy the same car and love the crap out of it?
