Rear decklid emblem placement

i have a 1999 boxster that, for some reason, didn't have a rear decklid emblem on it when i bought it. does anyone know if the original emblem was black or silver? i assumed it was black so that's what i ordered. just wanted to make sure.

thanks

lee

I think they were all Black - except the S?? I replaced my black emblem with a Titanium colored one and it looks so much better. What color is your car?

I left he car in the sun to warm up the glue, then used some dental floss to remove the old black badge. The glue took hours to remove using my thumb and some eucaliptus oil.

My car is arena red and is a '98 model and the paint wasn't too faded around the edge and once polished you couldn't even notice there was a badge once there!!

Yikes!! I was hoping it would be easier.

I actually just put a black one on it. It should have been a no-brainer because i could see where the old emblem was before. However, i've somehow put it on about a half an inch to the left. It's not noticible but i know it's wrong and it just gets to me. Oh well, maybe someday i'll get around to putting another one on it. Thanks for the help.

I have an 02 Blakc Boxster that I removed the black emblem with dental floss and removed the glue with some wax and elbow grease, took about 10 minutes at most and replaced it with the numbers "986" which I bought from suncoast, originally intended for the 968, wihch I reversed and had painted silver. Looks good.

You can do what I did and get a 968 emblem, switch the 6 and 8 to have a 986 emblem, and replace the "boxster" emblem with a "986" emblem.
