decided to switch it up a little

heres 2 quick pics, im still waiting for black brembo decals. should be here any day.
too the red stripes off, and painted the calipers yellow.
i really like the contrast with black wheels better now, red wasnt red enough for me, i dunno lol.
i was sopposed to have my bumerettes painted today, and the guy that was doing it had to go to hospital couse hes having a baby. hopefully next week or so when he has time, hey, free painting, im not complaining and can wait hehe
anyways, heres the pics

It looked good before, but I think it looks better now.

Now you just need to update your sig

CJ_Boxster 08-10-2007 12:36 PM

Looks good, DJ.

blkboxster 08-10-2007 02:21 PM

LOOKS SICK, i would love to do the same, what type of paint did you use??

BoxsterBob - CA 08-10-2007 02:33 PM

I love the yellow calipers. Have you considered going with a polished lip? The reason I'm not a fan of black wheels is you can't differentiate between the wheel and tire. I love the look of a low profile tire and an all black wheel gives the illusion of too much tire, not enough wheel. The strip helps, but I think a silver polished lip would work well with the silver corners and side lights, IMHO.

The polished lip delineates the wheel from the tire:

Yellow and black are the only way to go, although a bright blue might go nicely with your color car... hmmm or maybe white w/ greenish porsche stickers. But the yellow works!

white would look nice i must say.

BTW, do you have problems keeping yellow calipers clean?

SC986 08-10-2007 03:08 PM

Looks great DJ! The decals will be a nice touch when they get added. Looks like the hardtop has found a comfortable storage place?

986rgt 08-10-2007 03:37 PM

yeah, they get dirty

but being as bright as they are clean, they still look good with a bit of dust on them. Probably more of an issue for you with your wheels. The Turbo rims are a bit easier for cleaning the calipers I would imagine. One of the reasons I opted for them in the first place, but I do like your rims. If it weren't for the cleaning issues I would have ordereed those back in 99.

i dont mind cleaning them, especially now in black.

the only problem i have, well with any wheels, is after washing the car, that orange dust/rust builds up on rotors, and goes all over the wheels the first time i drive it.

anyone got any suggestions on dealing with that?

Oh, I friggin' hate that! Usually, I take a quick spin to brake the rotors clean and then wipe the wheels down with some spray detailer.

djomlas 08-10-2007 05:21 PM

dude, but you have total of what, 20 spokes on all 4 wheels...i have maybe 300 lol.
damn....

Chills 08-10-2007 05:52 PM

Looks good DJ. A porshophile would do a double take and think you've got the PCCB's on there.

I know what you mean about the rims. It takes forever to clean the brake dust off them. I've got the same ones you do.

Cloudsurfer 08-11-2007 06:48 AM

I've considered painting my turbo twists black several times, but I too, dislike the illusion of "too much tire" from the lack of contrast between wheel and tire. The twists are super easy to clean, which I love.

As far as painting calipers, if your car ever sees track time that simply isnt going to work. I would only ever powder coat brake calipers, problem is that also involves a rebuild as all the seals, etc have to come out (although, on the bright side, depending on your car's age, this could be beneficial as well).

Yellow brakes on black wheels are hot, however.

That's exactly why I buy five spokes for everything now. In the 80's I had two cars and put BBS mesh wheels on both of them. My back still hurts from cleaning those things. One set was white! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Live and learn DJ...live and learn.

djomlas 08-11-2007 07:28 AM

white mesh wheels, wow dude. you should have one with white calipers as well lol

but what can i say, i love the multi spoke wheels

Yea I'm not a fan of black rims either. But I think those yellow calipers look sharp!
