Is there a track in the austin area?
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a track in the Austin or college station area that I can bring my car to this weekend.
How do you get track time, and what things do I need to bring to track the car? I have never done this and I need guidance.
Thanks,
James

Find your nearest PCA chapter. They will hook you up.

There is a process you will need to go through before you can get track time:
- tech inspection on car
- helmet
- take a high speed driving course
- sign up for track events and pay entry fee
- get numbers for your car
I didn't put these in order but your first step should be to join the PCA and see what track events you can do through your local chapter. They will also likely have the opportunity to sign up for a high speed driving class.
It is a bit involved initially but definately worth it. Once you complete all of this for your first event then it is much less involved.

James,
Let me know what you end up doing. I'm in Austin, too, and I'm getting curious about learning how to drive the piss out of my car. I've been following a local Autocross mailing lists (it's called Spokes). They do events every couple months down at Burger Center (the north end of Brodie in South Austin), but they do them on Sundays, and I work on Sundays.
I haven't joined the local PCA yet, but will probably do so when I get a round tuit.

Guys,
Here is a link to the next track day/DE in your area. Go have a blast. Be safe.

I would definitely like to attend a DE sometime, but likely it won't be this year... I have some budget constraints at present!
I would love to learn how to drive the piss out of my car, that's for sure!
