Thanks dj
It's such a fun car...I can take turns in it at 10-15mph faster than the Boxster and EFFORTLESSLY.
The Boxster feels like a dump truck by comparison.
It's amazing...truly amazing in every sense.
You can pick up '05s for $35k easily with maybe 15-18k miles on them. Check Lotusofgreenwich.com Insurance isn't that bad. My dad was quoted $500 every 6 months and me, a 19 year old with accident history, $2900 every 6 months.
I know I'm no photographer, dj, so I'll have to hire you Pics do not do this car justice.....

ANY street legal car feels like a dump truck in comparison...
You should have pulled the trigger on the Exige man! If you're going to go impractical GO IMPRACTICAL!!
Congrats.

Well, from what I hear from Lotus owners, the Exige S and Elise are almost identical in acceleration after the second camshaft switches over (6200 RPM) and they really only recommend the Exige for track junkies.
Does it look bad ass? Yep. Is it much faster? Yep.
Can I afford it...?

Nice. I like that color. I looked at them before buying the Box, but I don't fit!

It's all about proportion. I'm 6'2" as well and my legs just plain don't like the little space.

All right, fair enough. I know that I have taught my legs to like sitting closer to the pedals in vehicles because I have better pedal feel. Now everyone thinks I sit too close.

How does the power delivery feel compared to the 2.7L box you had?

There's a yellow one of those that lives down the street from me. I pulled up next to him at a stop light the other day and he makes my Box look like a cadillac. Those are literally a GO KART! Very nice cars though, I'd love to drive one.

I considered them too, couldn't get away from the Alien eyes. I don't know if the list does it justice, but it's not much faster than a Cayman, which of course is box coupe

Nice nonetheless.

Which Lotus owners? The Elise or the Exige?
There is no replacement for displacement!
But I would think you would want to work your way up to a power to weight distribution of 8 or 9 pounds per pony. I think the CaymanS is one pound more than the Exige.

Bav,
Congratulations ! Very nice car. There was an Exige at the autocross this weekend, but I was not impressed with the numbers it put up ( more due to the driver then the car ). I asked her for a ride along, but she said she did not want any passengers for her last run ( which was fine ), but when she pulled up to the start, she did have a passenger ( denied ! )

Elise is 190hp and 1970 lbs (approximately...with sport pack and such, which I do have)
Cayman S is 295hp and 2967 lbs (BASE WEIGHT. Most Caymans will weigh at least 50-100 lbs more)
That's an identical power to weight ratio It feels much faster than the 2.7l. Of course, I am still breaking it in...700 miles to go.... Can't be over 6K RPM. It doesn't have that dead spot at 2k rpm that the 2.7l has. Gearing is better too... (70mph in 6th = 3.5k RPM)
If it was about speed, I would have gotten a Corvette for the same $$$. I think we, as current and former Boxster owners, know that better than anyone.
