I have seen plenty of sports cars without the front plate. I wouldn't worry about it, and if you get pulled over they will probably just give you a warning.

None of my ride had/has a front plate
I did get a ticket for no front plate. I paid for the fine but I still didn't put the front plate back on.
I am not a fan of euro front plate, though.

I live in Southern California. I don't have a front plate on my Boxster. I have received a fix-it ticket for having the front plate off.
1. They won't pull you over for it.
2. They WILL cite you if they've already pulled you over for something else.
3. They WILL cite you at LAX for it--it's commonly-known that you don't want to head to the airport without a front plate.
Having said that, the fix-it ticket I got for the front plate was from the CHP in orange county. I never fixed it, and it isn't in their system anywhere. Something tells me that fix-it tickets from the CHP aren't tracked, but I can't say for sure.

They do the same thing up here but mainly the CHP guys. Local cops don't really care about it. I've been ticketed before for not having a front plate and tinted front windows. All are fixed it ticket which does not show up in your driving record at all. Few years back, I got a ticket on my Z for having tinted windows. I told the CHP cop that the it would cost more for me to remove the tint so I might as well just pay the fine. He said it's up to me and left. BTW, I'm serious about telling the cop that I have to pay more to remove the tint. At the time, the fix it ticket was only around 60 bucks.

if you're car is parked on public streets, you will get a ticket.
anywhere in california.
so, if you don't often park on the streets, i'd say go for it. if you do park on the streets at all, i'd say not.

Oh, yes--this happened to a friend of mine down here in San Diego. Parked on the street in front of his girlfriend's apartment, came out to a ticket for his front license plate.
