got it at some online store but i don't remember the name...

Well went to the dealer and bought my new cap. New is blue and old is blue, if you have black, it might not be OE. Heres a picture of the old and new. I noticed after i placed the new one on that in 88 degree weather, it took alot longer for the water temp gauge needle to reach the middle of the 0 in stand still traffic.
Can someone tell me the actual benifits of having the new cap so that im not tripping bawls on a placibo effect? ;) |
apparently, the old cap can leak at times although it did not happen to me. yeah, you are probably right. the new black cap is probably aftermarket but it doesn't bother me at all. it looks the same as your new blue cap. i think they are all made by Blau, just labeled differently.

Porsche dealer
I got mine from my mechanic via the Porsche Dealer. Actually my mechanic just gave it to me..but that is another story. Anyway I believe that the new cap has a better seal which allows pressure to build up. So the temp doesnt rise as fast or as far. A radiator system has to have pressure. But that is a great picture showing the bottom of the cap...

Did you notice a difference in your water temp charactoristics? |
no diff with water temp...old cap was working just fine...i just changed cap as a precaution. don't want to mess with it later.

My new style (ending in 01) cap is blue, and came from Porsche.
