Headlight Switch Failure

Just thought I'd post this FYI up here for future reference. I purchased my car as a leftover model so it's only been in service about a year.

My headlight switch failed and Porsche replaced it free under warranty.

Prior to completely failing it would delay when switching on the lights. In other words, I'd switch it to on, and there would be a 3 second or so hesitation and then the lights would come on. This persisted for a couple weeks and ultimately the switch just failed to turn the lights on. As to be expected with a switch problem, failure was on both sides and affected both high and low beams. However, I was able to get the brights to come on if I flashed the passing lights (by pulling on the turn indicator stalk). In my case, the fog lamps remained operable.
