Tire Blew...

yesterday driving my rear passenger tire blew out so i'm in the market for 2 new rear tires. I am clueless. I was gonna go w/the bridgestone potenzas, but there are a few different tread patterns to choose from and I don't know which is which. Any help on how to decide a tire would be great.

I got OEM Conti's on the box now, but they are a little vague at the limit. Good in the rain, and good tradwear though. I hope my Goodyear D3's will be an improvement. They're sitting in my garage waiting for my Conti's to die.

What brand and make of tire it was yours and the cause for your blow-out?
