hard top squeak

I searched couldn't find anything.... I made the mistake of cleaning the black trim mating surface for the hardtop with 303 protectant. Previously it had what looked like some some dirty tacky stuff on parts of it. After the 303, it squeaked like CRAZY. I am wondering if the PO purposely sprayed some tacky stuff on so it wouldn't squeak. Any ideas?

Please help, I want that quietness back. It used to be so quiet, surprisingly so; I couldn't tell it was a convertible. Sadly, it's sounding like a convertible now. I hate squeaks!!

Why don't you try washing the rubber with some Dawn dishwashing soap? That might remove the 303. You will still need to treat the rubber with something though so it doesn't dry out and crack.
