I thought the stock front bumper was the best looking part of the Solstice.

Also, it looks like this guy did do some performance upgrades – not sure what it is supposed to look like stock, but appears to at least have an aftermarket ram air or CAI or something. Also, I don’t think the vehicle has cross drilled rotors stock either – looks like better brakes. Who knows what else was done. I’m not saying I would trade my Boxster for it, but the person who did this doesn’t appear to be the coffee can exhaust/ Type R badging type.

I know those cayman vents are backwords... but they look so backwards they look like $hit. Im trying to imagine them flipped around to see if they look any better. So unless someone PS's it it looks super ugly to me.

i also think that solstice has a nice curb appeal.
at the autoshow i sat in one, and yup, its a GM, all plastic inside, if you knock on anything you have a feeling that its made out of 1mm abs plastic all over and will crack any minute, very cheap inside. but exteriorwise, its a very nice looking car, but these 'upgrades' are...well...i dunno...

You know the whole thing about getting a car is about the car itself. Especially if the car is a looker. I will give GM credit where Credit is due. The Solstice and Sky have very nice designs. The studio did well. However, the cheap interior is typical of all General Motors cars. If someone wanted to buy one of these cars and upgrade the interiors then that would be a statement. Putting Lambo doors or Ferrari bumpers are just plain stupid. Its kind of like the jokers that put the hydraulics and 30 inch wheels on a $1500 Buick.

I will also give GM credit in that the performance figures are adequate for the price that these cars are being offered at. I admit that I gave the Solstice some consideration last year before I went and got My 2000 Boxster. The reality is that a Porsche is a Porsche and there is no substitute.

are those vents facing the right direction if they're to be functional?

Personally, I like the Solstice/Sky platform. I'm not in love with it, like I am with the box. But they're tempting. The soft top fit looks very rough though. Baggy and saggy. ewww. Reminds me of the 1st gen Viper, an after-thought.

If the aftermarket comes through on that car with cheap turbo upgrades, and the powertrain proves durable at 2x power levels, I'll seriously considering it then. Until then, all the body mods in the world won't make that car "cool".

functional vents. that's the least of that guys worries.
check out the sky/solstice trunk one of these days if you get a chance. you'll feel like the boxster has the capacity of an SUV compared to that thing. they went out of their way to make it useless.

there's already a turbo version out from the factory.

well...there is a company, called Mallett, that does LS2/LS7 conversions on these.
and here is the new body mods they do to it, with widebody and whatnots.

Yes, I was talking about the GXP/Redline. The base is an anemic non-consideration. 260hp won't pry me from the box, +400 maybe... CD did a good write up of a GXP, and summed it up well; it's pretty much a toy given the tiny trunk.

The Mallet is sexy! However, I don't see the value in that conversion. For that price point, I'd rather get a Vette Zo6, or Viper (used of course) if I wanted true supercar performance.

DJ i love the way the Mallett version of the Solstice looks, Reminds me of a mini Viper or one of those photoshoped pictures of exotic cars that are shrunken to "power wheels" size. I absolutly love the bulge or flare of the front fenders.
