Anyone encounter this with clear side markers??

So I picked up a pair for my '07 when I stopped by a dealer; I popped them on in about 30 seconds per side, everything's great. But when I put the passenger side unit in, I noticed for the first time that the upper and lower edges of the lens have beveled edges, (??) so that when installed, the unit doesn't fit flush inside the opening in the bumper, like the driver's side one does. I assumed they'd be identical...and the weird part is the part numbers are correct - the clear right side maker has the identical p/n as the OEM orange one I pulled. What's up with this? Are they all like this and I just never noticed, are could it really be that my passenger side marker got the wrong lens attached to the housing in some one-off manufacturing defect?

Anyone? If you have a close-up shot of your pax side 987 clear marker, it would be greatly appreciated....

John Y:

Here are the correct part numbers for the clear side markers on the 987 Boxster:

987 631 034 01
987 631 033 01

Is this what you have?

yup - that's what they gave me, but the lens on the passenger side is different! I take it it's not supposed to be, and that I did get a freak??

Yes, it should be seated flush. Did you try taking it out,,,and putting it back in?

yeah - it's not a fitment issue though; it pops right in and out like the other side. The lens is just constructed differently. It's not that it sits above or below the opening, it's just that the beveled sides mean the piece doesn't fill out the opening like the others do.
Never noticed until I looked closely - in fact, I didn't notice until it was in, and I tried to figure out why it wasn't flush. I assumed it must have been the fit so I pulled it out, then did a side by side comparo with the left side, and the OEM. Really weird...
