what brake dust?

well...
it was just a matter of time before this happened.
every car i had so far pretty much had black wheels (per choice) so this one would be no different. especially this one i might add, every 2 days or so it looks like i havent washed my wheels in months, and by just looking at them you can see how 'easy' they are to clean not that i will not clean them any more, its jsut that i love black wheels and all the brake dust wont be showing as much so that is even better.
so... heres what happened...
spent about 4 hrs washing and cleaning them with steel wool last night, left them to dry over night and made sure they were absolutely dry this morning.

then off to painting them, and here is what they turned out, started at 7am and jsut got done about 10:30
theres probably about 8 or so lighter coats, and one veryyyyy good heave coat for that extra shine. getting into all those spokes was such a paint in the .... wow.
btw, index card masking, 1 minute per wheel, sooooo easy, done this a few times and its by far the best way to mask the tires from wheels (maybe not the 'best' way. but its quick and tires stay protected thoughout the whole process, and you can see in then after pics that they are completely dry and not painted at all, no overspray whatsoever.

but heres the pics, i love how they turned out.

centercaps got the same treatment, but i would say maybe 4 light coats since they are plastic

i will leave them to dry from now till about sometime tomorrow and post some pics with them installed (since you guys dont see my car often hehe)

i am a big fan of the black rims since i have them as well great job . My only question when you used the index cards there was that lip at the edge still silver where it meets the tire?

DJ, some of your home made mods really haven't been my thing, but I have to say those black wheels are kick ass. I can't wait to see them in person. I was at Discount Tire the other day getting my DD's tires rotated and I eyed a few black wheels. I like the black.

What kind of paint did you use?

Im sure it will look nice, but for some reason, no matter what kind of wheel, black wheels look aftermarket and cheap. Im talking about 3 piece forged BBS wheels too. Just for some reason I dont see black wheels as quality. I know those are factory wheels, but thats how I feel. I guess im just used to seeing little hondas and what not with $300 sets of rims. Looks good though.
These wheels are why I dont like black wheels, lol. Cheap, 300 bucks.
