Army-(Infantry)

Drafted- the only lottery I ever won ! Two tours, compiments of Uncle. Could have done with-out the 2nd tour, but it kept my younger brother, who was also drafted (State side).
I still remeber reporting for my physical- I had broken my collar bone (baseball) my senior year. My Mom, who really did not want me going to Viet Nam, told me to remind them of this injury and it will surely keep me out. Those of you who were inducted know the mechanical process of Army physicals. At each and every station I would bring up my broken collar bone, no one was really interested, and simply told me to move on to the next station. Finally at the last station an older Sargent seemed interested when I told him my collar bone story and said-"Which one?", and ran his finger along it, saying "I can feel the notch"; thinking I'm all set now- he turned and said-"Yeap, an M-16 will fit nicely there". And off I went.

Dennis,

Were you at Hershey last weekend? Do you have a Nurburgring badge on your fender?

Retired Marine LtCol since 93. Ops in Panama as liaison to JTF Panama. Desert Shield/Storm with 2d Marine Division in Saudi and Kuwait.

The rest was pretty much Camp Pendleton (1st MarDiv & I MEF), Camp Lejeune (6th MEB and 2d MarDiv) or Japan (3 tours) with security duty in Puerto Rico and a Defense agency tour in DC scattered in.

Several contingency ops with XVIII Airborne Corps. Hooah!

U.S. Army

Former Artillery officer here. No great war stories or anything like that. Just a few years of playing in the mud and making a lot of noise.

Mtch, no way you were active duty for a few years and have no great stories!

In the Army...still. That day I stepped into West Point in 94...I knew something was up. Should have listened to my inner screaming. Former Apache Pilot, now flying fixed wing.
