987 BOSE Stereo Question - LINEAR Setting

While reading the CDR 24 Radio operators booklet (again) I noticed the LINEAR Adjustment setting on the BOSE radio. This is accessed by holding down the SOUND button. Hold it for 4 secs and you get LINEAR FM - hold for 8 secs you get LINEAR ALL which means FM and CD.

Anyone know more about this? There is not much info in the booklet. I assume the ALL setting provides sound leveling between FM and CD's. Default value is LINEAR FM and I have noticed the CD's are a bit lower in volume, I just compensated with the vol control. I just changed it to ALL and will see if I notice a difference.

What the linear function does is restore values for Bass, Treble, Fader etc. to 0, assuming you had changed them to something else. It's like a reset..
