can you get a ticket from a city police officer when you are on the freeway or highway?

Sometimes being "lucky" is better than being good!

I got lucky the other night, too.... was going 45 in a 30... no front plate... expired registration. Cop went right past me.

(I usually don't speed.... and I now have front plate and good registration)

I hope that was an emergency and that you dont usually got to work at 3AM. How fast were you doing if you shot past him at 95?

You certainly can get a ticket, although, most municipal police officers don't unless its blatant.

You see, police officers are peace officers and as a peace officer, you have powers throughout the State of California.

Expired reg will get your car towed.

Good that you took care of that.

Got insurance too?

In Cali I wouldn't consider getting ticketed on a freeway by a municipal officer to be unusual. However, I've never seen a police SUV working traffic. That would be about as unlucky as being pulled over by a marked K-9 unit.

Dang... I don't know about California, but cars don't get towed for expired registration in Texas... unless it's some extreme, unusual circumstance. Usually it's just a nice fine.

The only reason I didn't have it is because my dealer was waiting for the plates to come in... there was really nothing I could do but carry around my purchase order for the car and say "hey, I bought it 5 weeks ago"... luckily I never had to do that.

As far as insurance goes... I'm not stupid. I bought that before I even had the car in my possession.
