Got my new 2007 Boxster S --- hooorrraaayyy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanted to get some advice and feedback.

I've already had a clear bra put on, as well as coated the top with Ragg Topp with three coats.

I know I've got to keep the the RPM below 4,200 for the first 2,000 miles. I'll stay below 4,000 to be safe.

My first trip is probably going to be about 550 miles, 99% freeway. Is it really that important NOT to be in one gear (in my case 6th gear) and to vary the speeds/gears the first 2,000 miles?

Also, any other suggestions/recommendations to keep the car in great shape? It will never be a garage queen, but I don't plan on abusing it either.

And next week I will post lots of pics, etc...

Thanks,
Michael

I can't believe you had time to do RaggTop. You should be busy with driving everywhere for no reason.

Can't wait to see Meteor Grey + Terracotta + 19" Turbo Wheels. Yummy!
Thick Steering Wheel should be very nice too.

Michael:

Congrats on the new car! I was wondering when you would be posting.

Yes, you should vary the gears on the long trip. That is a good thing. Maybe every hour, downshift to 5th for about 5 miuntes, then down shift again into 4th for about 5 minutes, back up to 5th for a few minutes and then 6th.

What are your plates?

Did you get clear side markers?

You should get some Zaino (www.zainobros.com) and get about 2-3 coats of Z2 on that car. I would also recommend Soffener for the leather (www.colorplus.com).

Can't wait to see pictures.

Congrats on the new delivery.

Have fun on the upcoming trip, but the daily drives must be fantastic! You live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Has to be great fun driving the PCH. Hwy 17 to SF would be thrilling in a Boxster, too.

Enjoy. I am jealous.

Hwy 1 in a boxster is a blast! Drove all the way from Houston to do it almost three years ago.

Hwy 1 looks O.K...I guess. But admit it, you know you'd rather be carving the Capital Beltway with me...

Nope. Short. Fat. Balding. I am only found in a pulpit preaching about 3x a year at most. Burly? I dunno.

And Grizzly, you can keep your gridlock driving.... I have a looooong, 4 minute commute to my office that takes me under a freeway overpass, but not on any major Houston roads any longer.

Spy, congrats on the new baby! Got confused by your sig. Do you have 18" or 19" wheels, or two sets? Waiting for pics.

Nice pictures!

I just drove the 1 during the first week of this year. There had been mudslides so there were periodic stops where they were working on the road. At one of them the worker came up to us and put his hand on the tire. I was laughing as he reached forward and said, "no, we weren't really driving hard" but he still gave an appreciative nod.

It's good to have the girlfriend with me. Keeps my testosterone in check. Lots of Porsches get wrecked on the 1...
