Need opinion on lowering my Boxster
 

Now that I have my 18" Carrera wheels on it, Im thinking of lowering the Boxster probably an inch in front/rear.
-Is it worth it?
-Is the H&R springs worth it?
-would it make the ride harder but the sweet turns will compensate it?
-what's the ups and downs?
-will it hurt if I use the 17" stock rims once in a while?

It will will be a weekend warrior/pleasure car and planning to AX twice this season...

i bought mine with h&r's.. dropped 1.5"

besides the occasional scraping of the side skirt or bottom i think it's nice... it can be scary sometimes when ur near an 18 wheeler.

wish i could give u a before/after comparison but i'd say the car looks a lot better dropped =)

Come on Kraker, get rid of the gap! Every review I've read stated there was barely a difference in ride quality, and the performance aspect was great. Plus it looks hot.

hey, my car is lowered 1.2 inches with h&r springs. i dont scrape on anything. the car looks really good with a 1inch drop. anything more will be a headache. unless you do the coilover suspension, which really is the smart way to go.

i have the 1.2 inch drop sitting on 19z, and i love it.

Eibach springs for over 2 years. I love it.. It looks great, handles great and no rubbing whatsoever If you have ever been to NYC you know the roads. I have driven in Time Square on many occasions. enjoy.

I am in the same shoes as you are. I am contemplating lowering the car with thicker Front and Rear sway bars. Anyone have any opinions as to going with H&R or Eibach over the factory ROW setup.

By the way, in case you didn't know, ROW is the Rest Of World setup that Porsche uses on their cars outside of the United States, I think for the sports package. From all that I understand it will lower it about 1 inch.

I wont be planning to put on a side skirt anytime soon, probably next year (James, you're already warned...there will be bunch of question coming from me regarding the front/rear/side skirt set up you got there. better clean up your inbox early next year..hehehehehe)

I am also an advocate of lowering the 986 utilizing Eibach sport springs. I saw about 1.3" lowering with them, and did the install myself. I had to use a good friend's lift to perform the modification, since I do not have one at my facility...yet.

Keep in mind that the ROW Boxsters with sport suspension are lowered more than our States-bound cars anyway - it looks better, rides better, and really has no negative effect on ride quality. Probably have to blame places like New York with the pothole filled streets for our need to have an increased ride height...
