WTB- Silver trim rings for gauge cluster

Hi- I'm looking for a set of silver/aluminum rings that fit over the existing trim on a base model instrument cluster. Don't need the actual gauges, panel, or bezel, etc. Just the rings. May consider other colors too. Thanks!

Thanks- yeah I saw those too; I agree they're $$$.
Fortunately I found a new set of silver ones on eBay this week for $45 shipped! They arrived in the mail today and look great

These might be the ones q2usmc is talking about. I was thinking about buying them myself.

No, there wasn't a guide but it was pretty self explanatory. You don't need to remove anything. The kit came with some strips of double sided adhesive tape that you apply to the inner part of the rings; then you just simply place the rings onto the existing trim around the gauges and voilá! No mess, no fuss. Super easy DIY mod.

Thanks for the info, I went ahead and purchased a set myself last night. I have a black on black 986 and was looking for some ways to brighten up the interior a bit. I think these will look nice - I could not justify the other prices at this point in time.

Awesome - you'll be happy you got 'em. They really do spruce it up in a subtle way that compliments the rest of the interior nicely. And like you - I could not justify paying more for some plastic!

Mine showed up Easter weekend, and now that all my holiday travel is finished I got them installed today. They really are a nice visual upgrade to the all black interior.

That was a great ebay find. Thanks!

I wish I had seen this earlier - I've been looking for these as well, however all he has left now are chrome rather than the aluminum finish.

I have a set to install. Wondering if anyone has had any issues with them coming loose after you installed?

Did you out the tape in the actual gauge cluster or in the rings and if in the rings was it one side or the other or just in the middle?

Thanks

I had the same question. I searched several forums and found that some people had problems with tape. The most often recommended product was silicone adhesive sealant:

Sealants : Permatex® Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant

The advantage is that if you drip it on something, it cleans up with alcohol and won't permanently damage the plastic gauge face. I used it and I have been pleased with the results. That's not to say something else won't work as well.
