Is this supposed to sit where the optional speaker unit sits above the engine? Or is it for additional storage? How is it secured and what material is it made of? thanks.

Yes, it sits just behind the seats above the engine cover. It is secured by using two of the front clips/screw things that hold the engine cover in place. it's made of leather.

Got it. I already have the plastic one with speakers that screws in to that same place. Thanks anyway!
