Wanted: Center Console
Looking for a clean, relatively excellent condition center console preferably black or perhaps silver. Mine has a fair amount of heavy wear and scratches on it and it just appears a little "worn" ---
Let me know if anyone has a source ---
Thanks,
M

Meerzee,
Just a suggestion, you can order a painted center console from Bumper Plugs for $399 in any color you like, and then send them yours in return :

Nick

Get it repainted, it will be cheaper. Or I think there is a guy on eBay who runs an exchange for like $85.

I work at an auto restoration shop and I have a suggestion. I just got done taking a Boxster interior apart last week. I used lacquer thinner to strip all the interior parts with the "soft touch" paint crap on them. Scuffed them with a green Scotchbrite and painted them with semi flat black Krylon. They look like new but, now won't get scuffed up without that "soft touch" paint on them. Coincidently, I stripped all my interior pieces that aren't already painted yellow and painted them with Krylon.
Honestly, it's a cheap fix if you've got a little time. The biggest pain is the center console but, you'd have to take it out anyway to replace it. It would be cheaper just to do it yourself and while you're at it do all the interior pieces with Krylon. Just make sure you pop off or tape off the leather pieces on the sides. The lacquer thinner does on number on those.

thanks for the lacquer thinner tip. the only other advice i've heard about removing the soft-touch finish was throwing the part in the dishwasher. i'm gonna give this a try soon.

Does anyone have, or know of where to get an extra lid to the storage compartment (black and fairly cheap)? Someone decided to break into mine and broke the front hasp and the hinge in the back. You can order the parts from Suncoast, but its like a couple hundred bucks.....

I just bought a lid on ebay for $20 plus shipping.
The ppart is over $100 from Porsche, I kept my eye on ebay and found it in a few days.
