Rubber keeps on "curing" from the moment it's made until it falls to powder. That's why the rubber in tires, hoses and belts eventually gets hard and brittle. Elevated temperature, such as experienced by radiator hoses, plays a part in accelerating the deterioration of rubber, so if you replace anything, it should be those pieces.
