I am also considering rear engine setup.

In the begining I was thinking rear engine. However I wanted to look into both options. However if I do a rear engine conversion I probably will use an audi 4.2L v8 instead of a 5cylinder motor.

As I do research I realize that the porsche shift linkage is a cable setup which works for me, no complaints. I just am curious on clutch setup now.
