New engine required???

Hi Guys,

I was just reading GT magazine, and found a little section about the Boxsters having engine trouble when they get a little older. Apparently engines are beginning to suffer slipped liners I'm not sure what that is exactly, but it doesn't sound good as the engine requires replacing once this happens.

A quote at the end of the article:
"it would appear Porsche's cost-cutting exercises went a little too far when it came to developing the Boxster's (and 996's) water-cooled flax-six, and manufacturing problems are beginning to materialise, including issues with cylinder liners"

Does anyone know about this kind of thing, or if it is a serious problem?
