I drove one at almost exactly 9:11 AM this morning. (dont worry... it was just an coincidence.) And... I know its not a boxster but it was still pretty cool (heh). I took a couple of photos. The top photo is the same car I drove pulling out on the next test drive after mine. This was at Niello Porsche in Sacramento. http://porsche.niello.com/inventory

I didn't push it too hard but it was still a very nice ride. The sales guy said they had 2 more available 997s in their first allotment, but I bet they sell today. You can order one but its a minimum of 6 months wait.

I'm still waiting to see the official photos of the 987 before I decide which one to buy. I'm guessing either way its going to be a 6-9 month wait for a 2005 987 or 997. From what I saw today I think its going to be worth the wait.

The rumors I've seen online are that Porsche will probably bring the 987 to the Paris Auto show in about a month. I kind of don't believe it since it would be weird to release two brand new models so close together, but you never know. Boxster sales have been so slow they may be looking for the extra boost (attention) the 997 brings. I'm sure there are tons of buyers who would love a new 997 but can much more easily afford a 987.

I'll guess we'll just have to wait to see.
