Thanks for all your good advice Perfectlap.

The warranty actually expires on Monday the 26th.

But I did just have the car in to replace a weak battery.

I asked for a fast inspection and a test drive, but I did not get a FULL DAY inspection. they said nothing was wrong, but they didn't REALLY go over it with a fine tooth comb.

I suppose i could take it in over the next couple of days for a full inspection. Probably set me back a couple hundred bucks, but like you said, it's probably a smart move.

The car has been over-serviced -- I have seen the records at the dealer. It had the main seals replaced a while ago, and the coolant tank fixed -- both of which I have heard are glitchy on this car. But other than that, it seems to be in perfect running condition.

Warranty direct offers their bumper to bumper "Secure Care" coverage of 4yr/48K for $3500! That's a thousand less than what the dealer is offering, and I think the coverage is more comprehensive. AND they offer a payment plan. So if I can find something like that from a reputable company who offers coverage in California, I would probably do it.
