I think overcooling the transmission may reduce its lifetime and probably it will take longer for it to warm up. I sold my Tip last year, but I remember the shifting became significantly smoother after it warmed up properly, and this warm-up period may last longer if you just bypass it. On the other hand, many neglected Boxsters are running out there with leaky vacuum lines, and they survive, so it's not a critical part. I'd still replace the valve to a factory unit again and reinforce the two plastic sides with some epoxy, just to be sure. My tip never had an issue with this valve, I don't know how common this kind of failure is, but I would check if the hoses and the valve itself are routed properly, perhaps there's some excessive vibration that cracks it eventually. Just my two cents...
