As mentioned it is the variocam solenoid seal . make sure you clean the solenoid thoroughly as the seal fits against the clean body of the solenoid to create the seal.
and yes you need a set of solenoids and plugs. also buy spark plug tubes ( cheap off rock auto ) and you will be set for the next few years.
