I went ahead and bought the hardtop from Jason at Z-Art in China and I have no regrets whatsoever! Sal-Mar Auto Body of Newark, New Jersey did the phenomenal work, including some much-needed fiberglass fabrication because the tops never come perfect. Yes, there's wind noise at speed. Yes, there's rattling when you go over bumps. Yes, you need STRONG GLUE and SEALANT on the window rubber. BUT WHO CARES??? People think I'm driving a Cayman. I just keep my mouth SHUT!
I want to thank everyone on this forum who talked about the custom hardtop, especially those like JBauer who actually did it. I was inspired by a YouTube video called "The Bauer Build" that I watched over and over until I finally pulled the trigger and PayPal'd Jason at Z-Art my $$$.
