Roof Mounted wing - CFD best guess?
This is a Very old thread, but had some people participating who know aerodynamics and that is what I need!
for a 24hr of Lemons race car... 2002 base boxster with the convertible top removed... would mounting a wing to the cage on top of the cockpit be a "thing" that works?
Lemons is whacky, we do whacky stuff... lots of people mount things on the roof... I'm wondering if I can do something that is functional. Any actual downforce would get distributed through the cage and it's 6 mounting points to the floor... so it wouldn't just be bending/flexing a roof panel.
it would mount to the cage and then I have a roof panel that is super thin sandwich aluminum that just slides over the cage.
Isn't the air coming up the windshield the fastest air around the car? so basically it would be a 'blown wing' circa Renault F1 a decade ago.
or am I the idiot?
