Basically it has a rev limiter (BoxsterS @7200rpm) and does so (I was told) by limiting / shutting down the fuel.

I find the rev-limiter in a BoxsterS rather restrictive and I don't like how it works. The car really likes to rev and the rev limiter kicks in rather smoothly.

I don't think you are able to really do any damage with th rev limiter in tact.
