Thanks for that. I'm going to try a similar solution. Various manufacturers produce flexible, silicone hoses. I was looking at those but they're pretty expensive. There is a product called exoflex that I'm researching:
Shields Marine ExoFlex Hose has a EPDM cover and is constructed of synthetic plies with steel wire helices. It is black corrugated material is very flexible with a 1.5" x ID" radius.Exo- Flex hose is suitable for delivery of cooling water and exhaust gas. Tighter corrugations allow for optimal clamp locations. The hose is resistant to ozone and abrasions as well as heat and saltwater. This hose is Lloyds approved. The temperature ranges from -22°F – + 212°F with peaks to 239°F. The hose meets SAE J2006 Type 2 standards. Now double the ozone resistance required by SAEJ2006.
