Mine beeps when I lock the car because I had an aftermarket stereo installed and the installer didn't know to ground out a wire from the old harness and it's the same message to the system as what I described above.
I love this "feature" on my car. Before I had it, I never knew if I was locking or unlocking my car with a single button remote... and I don't have to look at the car to see if the tail lamps blinked once or twice or whatever it is.

Yep, that would do it, disconnect the Brown Wire coming off the Oddments Tray Switch. But, you will lose the
reminder function that a door, or latch, is open. Comes down to your preference...
