Before you replace anything you might want to verify the engine (by serial number and type) and what version DME you have. A 2000 MY car should be either a 2.7 or 3.2. MY 99 was the last year for 2.5.

2000 also started e-throttle from cable on the previous generation car.

It will be difficult to run a 2.5 in a car wired for the 2.7 or vice versa.
