The owner's manual of my '99 describes no "Emission control warning light."
Do you mean the "Check engine" light? If so, the manual says it suggests
1) a potential engine control problem ...
2) an improperly fastened (fuel) filler cap
3) refuelling with the engine running
All of the warning lights are described in the owner's manual.
If you do not have one, you should get one. They are available through the parts dept. of any Porsche dealer.
