It appears slightly thicker than the material normally used for shift boots and e-brake gaiters in automotive interiors. The material is thinner than the material used in the center armrest cover I bought from Redline Goods.
The seller is in North Carolina. This is an area in the U.S. in which many furniture factories are located. I think the material is likely to be left over from furniture manufacturing. The seller is probably attempting to make some extra money and avoid wasting material.
