To go 987S gearbox you can use 987 axles into 986 S hubs but you need to take apart the 987 driveshafts and fit the 986 ends onto them as they have the ABS reluctor ring built in. I think you'd probably need 986 S driveshaft ends to do this. When I did it I tack welded the ends back on as they aren't designed to come apart and ran a silicone bead around them. I've got a spare set of axles I put together but shipping to the USA probably makes it not viable.

If you go 986 S hubs you need to use the discs and calipers from an S also unless you are ok to lose the handbrake.
