That's pretty neat what Porsche has done with an early 996.1. They replaced the 3.4L w/ a Metzger engine, taco spoiler replaced w/ a duck tail and upgrades to the interior. It's not practical to drop in a Metzger engine, but the rest is all doable.

It's funny - now that earlier generations of the 911 have reached prices beyond what most of us can afford, the 996 is becoming the the new darling of the 911 crowd. Not near the whining about the headlights and there's enough options to replace the IMS bearing now that it's pretty much just become a maintenance item.

I have a very heavily optioned '99 aerokit 996 that I bought for a song 7 years ago. I just wish I would have bought several of them then, because they're getting where I can't afford them now.

Even our little Boxsters are getting pricey. I still have a couple of build projects floating around in my head - I hope I can find the right cars before they become too expensive. If anybody comes across a decent white over Boxster Red interior '99, let me know.
